Personality typing is something I’m a huge fan of. It can be extremely beneficial for understanding yourself and others better. Personality typing can help you identify careers that make more sense based on your unique characteristics and interests. It can help you to understand what motivates you or provide you with insight on how to interact with others. The two most reputable and helpful tests that I’ve found and come to love and appreciate are the Myers-Briggs test and the DISC test.
Myers-Briggs
The Myers-Briggs test consists of 16 possible personality type combos based on whether you are an introvert or an extrovert, a sensor or intuitive, a thinker or feeler, and a judger or perceiver. This personality test helps you to understand a lot of different facets of what make you who you are. If you’ve ever wondered why you’ve done something, responded a certain way, felt something – this test can make more sense of that for you. You can take the free test here.
DISC
DISC is a personality test you can take that helps you to understand how you’re motivated and what your relationship with work is. This is helpful for employers so they can understand what motivates their employees as well as what their employees’ communication preferences are. You can take the free test here.
Personality typing isn’t the end all be all. The results should not define you indefinitely. You are much more than your results and you are constantly evolving over time. Personality typing is a tool that you can use to understand yourself and your world better to help you make more informed decisions. It’s particularly helpful for understanding not only yourself, but others so that your relationships can be more rewarding. In case you’re dying from curiosity, in Myers-Briggs, I’m an INFJ and, in DISC, I’m a high C. I’d love to know what you are and if you thought the tests were accurate. Drop me a comment below.
